First Ad

Sound Steps is my new practice, offering pediatric speech-language services to the Albuquerque and Santa Fe areas. And the first ad in New Mexico Kids! Family Magazine is here. Since the November / December issue includes a school directory I had the opportunity to describe my services in more detail under Academic Support Programs.

So, how did this happen? I had helpful, warm SLPs from age 3-5 years. Family encouraged me to make a solid career plan two years before high school graduation. I felt like I was in the right place, right time while learning in undergrad speech and hearing sciences classes at the University of New Mexico. I worked my way through graduate courses, and got my first job providing early intervention services to Raton and Colfax County in Northeastern NM. Then I worked for Raton School District and other rural schools across the state, providing telehealth services. Next, I served clients at Climbing Tree Therapy and ExplorAbilities Therapy back in my hometown, Albuquerque. Finally, I knew I had the skills and knowledge to step out on my own and provide families excellent services on their schedule.

Why do I offer longer sessions later in the day than anyone else? I’ve spent my entire career working off the schedules of my bosses first and my clients second, which do not always align. Families value after school times and the flexibility to practice communication skills across different settings. It’s such a treat to decide how much of my time I dedicate to my clients, their needs, and their progress. I’m excited to offer the Burque area something it doesn’t have: An SLP that offers 60-minute sessions up until 8pm.

So, if your child is a late talker, hard to understand, dysfluent, needs help expressing ideas or understanding what others want, then I’m here to help!
